The film Tamping shows the artist manually erecting a wooden fence post. The frame
focuses on the man’s torso as he drives a stake into the ground with a metal tamper.
Viewing this laborious action we are drawn to the ambiguous nature of the man’s toil.
As his thrusts become increasingly reminiscent of a workout routine the viewer is
left to re-
